Retaining Wall Removal done right
A retaining wall holds back earth. Removing one is fundamentally different from removing a freestanding wall, because the moment it comes out, the soil it was holding wants to move. That makes the sequence of removal — and the plan for what replaces it — part of the demolition job.
We remove block, poured concrete, timber and railroad-tie retaining walls on residential slopes and commercial sites. On walls of any real height, we work from your engineer’s plan, remove the wall in sections that the soil can tolerate, and coordinate closely with the contractor building the replacement so the slope is never left unsupported longer than necessary.
What’s included
- Review of your engineer’s plan or replacement design
- Sequenced removal to limit soil movement
- Temporary slope protection and erosion control
- Drain rock and drainage pipe removal behind the wall
- Footing removal and haul-off

What affects the price
Every estimate we write is based on measurements, not guesses. These are the factors that move the number most for retaining wall removal:
- Wall height, length and material
- Slope and soil behind the wall
- Whether an engineer’s plan is required
- Access at the top and bottom of the wall
Retaining Wall Removal in Orange County
Hillside neighborhoods in Anaheim Hills, Orange Park Acres, North Tustin and the Fullerton hills have many aging retaining walls. Most cities require an engineered design and a permit for retaining walls over a certain height, and failing walls should be evaluated by an engineer before anyone removes them.

FAQ
Retaining Wall Removal questions
Do I need an engineer to remove a retaining wall?
For anything beyond a short garden wall, yes. An engineer should evaluate the slope and design the replacement. We work from their plan.
Can you remove old railroad-tie walls?
Yes. Creosote-treated railroad ties must be disposed of at facilities that accept treated wood waste, which we handle.
My retaining wall is cracking and leaning. What should I do?
Keep people away from the base of the wall and contact a civil or geotechnical engineer to evaluate it. We can then remove it according to their recommendations.
